XtremeOS powstało z myślą o polskich użytkownikach, ale nie tylko. Idea systemu Xtreme to maksymalna prostota idąca w parze z wydajnością oraz możliwościami jakie daje platforma linuksowa. XtremeOS4 to Polska dystrybucja oparta na systemie Mandriva Linux 2010 dostosowująca go do wymagań polskich użytkowników. Podstawowe elementy systemu są identyczne jak w pierwowzorze. Zmiany polegają głownie na poprawieniu zauważonych błędów. Główne elementy systemu - Kernel 2.6.31 - KDE 4.3.2 - Gnome 2.8.1 - Mozilla Firefox 3.5 - OpenOffice 3.1.1 - Xorg 7.4 - Wine 1.1.32 W instalatorze systemu mamy wybór pomiędzy dwoma systemami graficznymi KDE 4.3.2 lub Gnome 2.80.1. Są to najnowsze dostępne wersje tych środowisk, które zostały przygotowane dla tego systemu. Interfejs graficzny obsługiwany jest przez zamknięte sterowniki ATI i Nvidie.
