Na tej p³ycie s³ychaæ, ¿e zespó³ ci±gle d±¿y do perfekcji i zas³ugujê na pe³ny szacunek, którym jest darzony przez rzeszê fanów na ca³ym ¶wiecie. Na p³ycie „Death To Tyrants” Sick Of It All siê nie opieprza, strzela z ca³ego arsena³u, który posiada i wyra¼nie pokazuje, ¿e to oni stanowi± definicjê s³owa „hardcore”. Two decades of NYC hardcore aggression are celebrated on DEATH TO TYRANTS, the ninth studio album by scene stalwarts Sick of It All. With three of the original members still in the group (brothers Lou and Pete Koller on vocals and guitar, respectively, and drummer Armand Majidi), the demons they have been chasing since the golden era of NYHC are wrestled down here with extreme brutality. Gang choruses, rock-solid guitar leads, and a chugging rhythm section, all staples of the group's musical stance, have fortunately not given way. Given the group's tenacity in holding down their own sound, comparisons to Motorhead, especially in terms of being able to work on a singular, forceful sonic theme for so many years, are becoming more and more relevant. Ein B-Seiten Album von Sick Of It All - was soll man davon halten? Nun wird also auch noch das Material, das in 20 Jahren Bandgeschichte ausgemustert wurde, feil geboten. Sind den Jungs die Ideen für neue Songs ausgegangen? Stehen die Hardcore-Veteranen am Ende, erleben wir den finalen Sell-Out? Zweifel scheinen bei diesem Album angebracht. Bei näherem Hinschauen entpuppt sich die Scheibe jedoch als Schatzkästchen für wahre Fans. Die Songlist enthält nämlich nicht die vermuteten musikalischen Fehltritte, sondern Raritäten, die so manchen Fan glücklich machen dürften. Neben B-Seiten findet man Bonus-Songs, die bisher nur auf Vinyl zu finden waren, unveröffentlichte Live-Aufnahmen, zahlreiche Covers und nicht zuletzt einen House Of Pain-Remix. Letzterer unterstreicht den Seltenheitswert mancher dieser Songs. Die Qualität der Aufnahme lässt die Vermutung zu, dass "Just Look Around" von '92 wirklich nur noch auf einer alten, verstaubten Kassette existierte. Um so schöner für den Fan, dem dieses ungewöhnliche Zeugnis vergangener Tage nun auch zugänglich wird. Daneben präsentieren Cover wie "All Hell Breaks Loose" (Misfits) oder "Target" (Hüsker Dü) prägende Einflüsse der Band. Hinzu kommen zahlreiche eigene Songs, wie etwa der groovende Opener "I Believe", die durchaus hörenswert sind. Alles in allem wahrlich kein Rip-Off, sondern eine Scheibe, die der Geschichte der Band Rechnung trägt. Die Compilation enthält zwar wenig Überraschendes, vereint aber etliche gute Songs, die trotz ihrer unterschiedlicher Herkunft eine Einheit darstellen. Jungle Nearly a decade on, this New York quartet continues waving the hardcore punk flag. Built to last, indeed. Lou Koller's raspy shout is supported on these cheerleading punk choruses by Craig Setari's guttural barrages, and together they carry the still-flaming punk torch in songs like "Burn 'Em Down" and "Don't Follow," which urges, "Follow your viscera/Follow your soul/Don't let the powers have control." Although Sick Of It All is from New York, the music sometimes betrays West Coast punk intentions. Guitarist Pete Koller, for example, might drop a quick surf-punk interlude into a between-verse breakdown.
